Birkett Long is delighted to announce that solicitor Kimberley Hircock has joined its education team.

Kimberley will specialise in education law matters covering a wide range of issues including admission queries, exclusions advice and assisting with special educational needs disputes.

Kimberley studied Law and Criminology and completed her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Sheffield. She was first introduced to the world of education law when she joined a specialist children’s legal centre as a paralegal. She completed her training contract at that firm and helped with cases that involved the Equality Act 2010.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2018, Kimberley has gained experience working with two local authorities within their education departments, focusing especially on advice regarding cases that involve special educational needs and disabilities. At one of those local authorities, she worked in the Special Educational Needs Tribunal team, which gave her a unique insight that she puts to good use when helping her current clients.

Kimberley’s experiences have provided her with a broad and balanced knowledge of education law, enabling her to weigh up both sides of an educational issue and suggest pragmatic solutions to reach a resolution.

Outside of work Kimberley enjoys playing netball as part of a social league, badminton, and having walking adventures with her dog. She also has a keen interest in theatre and musicals.
