Intellectual Property Administrator

We have an exciting new role for an Intellectual Property Administrator to join our IP team in the Colchester office on a full-time basis. 

The Role

You will be responsible for providing formalities and administrative support to our growing Intellectual Property team. You will liaise with clients on a regular basis orally and in writing as well as dealing with filing and general support work. You will often act as a first point of contact for the team, undertaking tasks such as screening and distributing calls, booking meetings; processing new enquiries and managing the client files. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to utilise and bolster previous formalities experience.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Updating case management system.
•    Euro-GB validation work.
•    Compiling Information disclosure statements.
•    Payment of renewals and sending renewal reminders
•    Some application filing work
•    Deal with post and email, internal and external, distributing, actioning and filing as required.
•    Communication with registries (UK / Europe  / WIPO)


The role will include file management and creating high quality typed work with accuracy and at a high speed and will at times include the preparation of invoices and financial data for the wider firm in co-ordination with our other administrative staff.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have had previous IP formalities experience and would ideally be familiar with UK, European and international systems such as Madrid and the PCT. 

You will have an eye for detail, work with high levels of accuracy and possess the ability to work under pressure, prioritising effectively. 

The ideal candidate will have:

•    excellent timekeeping and communication skills, both verbal and written;
•    strong typing skills;
•    a professional approach to work;
•    a positive, friendly and helpful approach to being a team player;
•    Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise;
•    Strong attention to detail;
•    The ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own;
•    IT literacy skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Parking Attendant – Marketing Events

The Firm

The Role
This is an opportunity to work supporting the Marketing team by managing the car park at Marketing events held at the Birkett Long Colchester office.

The role includes:

  • Meeting and greeting car park users to include staff, clients and event delegates on arrival
  • Ensuring that those with authorised access park in the correct bay
  • Managing numbered parking bays from a bookings list
  • Ensuring there is no unauthorised users in the car park
  • Redirection of unauthorised users to nearest car parks

The Candidate
Birkett Long is looking for an individual who can work flexibly to cover the Colchester office car park at around 12 events per year to include early starts of around 7am/8am with each shift lasting no longer than 3 hours. This role would suit someone seeking casual and part-time work. Previous experience, ideally gained in a customer service role would be beneficial.

Trade Mark Attorney

Colchester Office

 

The Role

We have an exciting new role for a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney to join our fast-growing Intellectual Property team in the Colchester office of a legal 500 law firm. The role may be adapted to suit either part-time or full-time candidates.

The Candidate

We are prepared to take applications from a variety of experience levels, from newly qualified upwards.

 

A following is not necessary as we have a great deal of ongoing work. We will work with you to help you build a following locally and further afield and will provide you with an interesting caseload from day one.

You will be involved in both domestic and international filings as well as the prosecuting and monitoring of trade marks, along with some very interesting opposition and cancellation work. You will ideally have some experience of drafting license agreements.

We can provide you with a varied and nourishing diet of contentious and non-contentious work, with some unusually high-profile clients. The mixture of corporate and private client work will serve to harness and develop your written and oral communication skills.

An eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure are important and an interest in communicative, collaborative work is essential.

You will be passionate to deliver succinct, high quality advice with excellent client and team communication skills.

The role will involve marketing and business development and therefore the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to work outside normal office hours when required and preferably have their own vehicle as well as a clean driving licence.
