The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team based in the Colchester office on a 12 month fixed term contract, to provide second and third line technical support to the whole Firm and IT colleagues. The role will also include some first line technical support. The role is suited to a candidate who is a flexible team player, with “can do” attitude to delivery across support and project deliverables. We will consider applications for Part Time (4 days per week) if desired. Subject to work commitments, there will be the opportunity for some working from home, if desired, in line with the Firm’s working from home

The firm is on an exciting IT journey of transition and change, adopting and implementing modern technologies to enable it to deliver the best in client service. This role will be a key part of this journey and will share knowledge, technical expertise and support to the team and wider firm to facilitate the successful execution of the project.

We are seeking a lead technical specialist, with the ability to demonstrate experience in delivering first class and hands on in-house and homeworking support to a range of users operating in a hybrid Microsoft environment. The successful candidate will also have experience in project implementation and improving the quality and efficiency of services and support delivery.

 

The Candidate

We are looking for a forward-thinking and customer-focussed Senior Support Engineer with previous experience within an operational IT team in a similar role.

You will have experience providing third line support and be the final point of escalation from your colleagues. You will work closely with the IT Manager and IT Director to support and develop first and second line team members ensuring that the service provided is considered to be ‘best practice’ and confirms with agreed KPI’s.

Your background will include both hands-on and high end technical knowledge of most of the following:

  • Managing a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment involving Azure Active Directory, Active Directory, Intune, Exchange Online, including administration, troubleshooting and reporting
  • Managing Azure components including resource groups, networking, Files, VDI, virtual machines, SQL databases
  • Support, deployment and configuration of Windows 10 Enterprise, Microsoft Office 365, OneDrive, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Configuration and management of Azure security features such as Defender ATP, multi-factor authentication and Conditional Access
  • Configuration and management of Windows Server 2008-2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, Citrix (XenApp), VMware
  • Managing and supporting a multi-site environment using MPLS/SDWAN connectivity
  • Managing 3rd-party managed service organisations
  • Providing 1st-3rd-line support to end users across a range of software and services
  • Desktop and server hardware (Microsoft, HP, Netapp)

 

You will have good time management and analytical skills with the ability to build rapport and liaise effectively with customers, colleagues and suppliers. Your experience will include working in a fast-paced environment using frameworks such as Agile and ITIL.

As well as a track record of experience, the successful candidate may have technical certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.

The role will include travel to all sites and the successful candidate will preferably have their own vehicle as well as a clean driving licence.

We have a vacancy for a 2 to 5 year PQE dispute resolution Solicitor, who ideally has experience of dealing with contentious property work, to join our highly regarded Dispute Resolution Team.  The position is full-time and based in our Basildon or Chelmsford office and, subject to work commitments, there will be the opportunity for some working from home, if desired, in line with the Firm’s working from home guidelines.

The Team

You will join the highly driven Dispute Resolution Team which advises on all types of professional and commercial disputes as well as private client matters, providing practical advice to companies and individuals on the best way forward when trying to resolve disputes. You will be advising on varied commercial disputes involving property, contracts, negligence, shareholders, insolvency, partners and directors. 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have proven experience in handling a mixed caseload of commercial and private client dispute resolution work. Ideally you will have experience in commercial and residential landlord and tenant disputes as well as other property disputes.  

You will have the ability to deliver succinct high-quality advice, excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills and a desire to play a key role in the future development of the team.

Assistant Financial Planner

The Role

This training programme is intended to last for a duration of two years however some flexibility with the timetable is possible. The Candidate

You will hold the Chartered Insurance Institute Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or equivalent. You will be motivated and dependable, with strong attention to detail, seeking to develop your career in financial planning. Previous experience in a Financial Services role would be advantageous but is not essential.

You will show a genuine passion for delivering excellent client service and display a willingness to learn and be flexible and dedicated. Additional study will be required outside of working hours and therefore you must display a can-do attitude, be able to manage your workload and prioritise effectively. You will be supported and encouraged to achieve your goals within the Financial Services Industry.

The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Construction Solicitor ideally with 2-8 years PQE to join our highly regarded multidisciplinary Construction team.

The position is full time and will be based in the Chelmsford office and, subject to work commitments, there will be the opportunity for some working from home, if desired, in line with the Firm’s working from home guidelines.

You will be advising on, drafting and negotiating construction documentation including contracts, sub-contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and other ancillary documents. This includes advising on many different standard forms such as JCT and NEC, together with bespoke documentation. 

Our clients include developers, consultants, main contractors, and specialist subcontractors. We advise on projects throughout England and Wales as well as abroad. The turnover of companies we act for mainly range between £5 million and £25 million. A lot of our work is on commercial buildings and blocks of apartments. We negotiate appropriate contract documents with funders of our clients. We advise Subcontractors on the proposed amendments to standard form contracts and the risks that are being taken on. We advise on professional appointments and negotiate terms taking into account insurance requirements.

Experience of contentious construction matters would be useful but not essential. A balance of both types of work could be provided but the majority of work would be non-contentious.   

We have a good range of core clients who give us repeat work. We also have many clients who we are sure could be developed further. The firm also has expertise in environmental and energy work which we are looking to develop. We have seen substantial growth in construction work over the last 18 months which has already led to successful recruitment. You will be expected to assist with business development to capitalise on and continue the growth of the team.

The Team


The team is multidisciplinary involving dispute resolution, commercial property, employment, development, environmental and energy expertise. You would initially join the highly driven South Essex Dispute Resolution team which includes our Construction lawyers, which is where the current pure non-contentious construction work is undertaken.   

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have proven experience (ideally a minimum of 2 years PQE) and enjoy handling a caseload covering non contentious construction work. You will have experience of all the major standard forms of contract as well as bespoke construction documentation.

You will have the ability to deliver succinct high-quality advice, excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills. You will need to use your own initiative and provide good commercial advice to clients. You will be computer literate, able to use a case management system and be able to type.
