The Role
We have a full time vacancy for a NQ – 3 years PQE Construction/Dispute Resolution Solicitor to join our highly regarded team based in our Chelmsford office.  You will be part of our multidisciplinary Construction Team advising clients on all types of construction disputes, including payment issues, extensions of time, loss and expenses claims, defects, professional negligence and insurance claims. Cases are run in adjudications, the TCC, county court and arbitration. You will also advise on construction documentation including contracts, sub-contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and bonds. Training will provided if you have no non-contentious experience. The role also includes advising on other contractual and commercial disputes.

The Team
You will join the highly driven South Essex Dispute Resolution team which includes our Construction litigators. As well as advising on construction disputes this team also advises on all types of professional and commercial disputes as well as private client matters, providing practical advice to companies and individuals on the best way forward when trying to resolve disputes with shareholders, partners, directors, other companies (including insurers) and individuals (eg. neighbours and other land owners).

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have proven experience in handling a caseload covering construction disputes.  You will have experience of adjudication and the Technology and Construction Court. Ideally you will have some non-contentious experience but this is not essential, as training would be available.

You will have the ability to deliver succinct high quality advice, excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills and a desire to play a key role in the future development of the team. You will need to use your own initiative and provide good commercial advice to clients. You will be computer literate, able to use a case management system and be able to type.

This role is an excellent opportunity for progression.

The role will involve marketing and business development and therefore the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to work outside normal office hours when required and preferably have their own vehicle as well as a clean driving licence.

BLIFA Trainee Paraplanner

We have a vacancy for a Trainee Paraplanner for our well established IFA company.  The position is full time and is based in our Colchester Office.  However, the successful candidate will also provide cover for our other offices in Chelmsford and Basildon and will be required to travel to those offices.

The Role
 The main duties and responsibilities are:-
• Providing support to Financial Planning Managers in research and analysis to meet client needs and objectives
• Processing new business and general client administration as required
• Undertake product and provider research including use of O&M Pension Profiler and Avelo
• Database creation and management
• Preparing necessary paperwork and application forms for client meetings
• Obtaining Illustrations and quotations from Platform providers and Insurance companies, etc
• Communicating with product providers on case progress
• Liaising with other Financial Services Team members and departments in the firm in relation to mutual clients
• General secretarial/admin support
• Dealing with telephone calls from clients and product providers

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have;

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Professional work attitude and a positive “can do” attitude
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage own workflow and prioritise
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own
• IT proficient and to be self supporting
• Currently studying for the CII Certificate in Paraplanning or LIBF Certificate in Paraplanning and Financial Administration or CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
• Be self motivated and have the desire to study toward further industry qualifications at all times
• Some working knowledge of one or more of the following; O&M Investment and Pension Profiler, Avelo and Wrap Platforms

You will be required to keep up to date with technical, product and provider changes.
