Nicolette Finch

Trainee Solicitor

I am a Trainee solicitor on my second seat in the BLHR & Employment Team. My first seat was with the Wills Trust & Probate team.

My clients tell me that they find me personable and friendly. It’s important to me to build strong relationships with my clients as I believe that’s vital to achieving the best outcomes and fostering trust. I strive to communicate well with them, listening to their needs and providing the best advice both to help them plan for their future and, for some, to deal with very challenging situations. I am proud to work at Birkett Long, not only because of the firm’s reputation in legal circles, but because of its commitment to the local and wider community, and the desire to achieve the best result for every client.

Prior to joining Birkett Long at the beginning of May 2023, I worked in civil litigation for five years. For the majority of that time I dealt with insurance litigation, handling matters such as road traffic accidents, employer liability and public liability, but I also have experience in personal injury work, helping clients who want to make claims.

•Law Degree (LLB Hons) – University of Kent •Legal Practice Course (LPC) – University of Law •Master of Laws in Professional Legal Practice (LLM) - University of Law

In my free time I enjoy reading as well as handicrafts such as cross stitch and embroidery. I am also a keen baker. Outside of the house you will find me walking the countryside with my camera or spending time with family and friends.

One of the most important parts of my role is to provide a high quality, detail-focused service for my clients. My key responsibilities include drafting documents, giving advice to clients and attending client meetings. My current work includes assisting with all types of private client matters including wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts and dealing with some tax matters.

I achieved a First-Class Honours degree in Law, studying at the University of Kent. After graduating, and whilst completing my Legal Practice Course with a combined Masters at the University of Law in London, I worked part-time as a paralegal in a criminal defence department. This cemented my drive to move forward with my path into the legal profession because of the difference I felt I was able to make, even in a short time.

My job allows me to meet people from all walks of life and I value the open communication that I have with clients. I love that my job varies from day to day and is not limited. Because of the nature of our work, clients come to us when facing some of the most difficult times of their lives and the work I do allows me to help them through those times and find solutions. Once their matter is resolved, I know that we have been able to provide them with our best service. Clients always have individual needs that require specific solutions and I love being able to provide a tailored and client-focused service.
