I am a solicitor working in the firm’s dispute resolution department. I centre my work around my client's objectives. I’m results-driven and seek to reach a settlement that is acceptable to them. I always try to explain complex legal issues clearly so that my clients understand what actions we can take, the steps required and the options open to them. Dispute resolution by its nature is a varied department, covering a multitude of disciplines. I am particularly interested in property litigation, acting for both landlords and tenants in contentious commercial and residential matters. I have experience in dealing with the following:

• dilapidations claims
• forfeiture of leases
• rent recovery
• lease renewals, both opposed and unopposed.

As a dispute resolution solicitor, I work closely with all departments at Birkett Long assisting clients when matters become contentious, from contractual disputes to issues of negligence or providing advice on the merits of claims. The variety of the work and the ability to help clients resolve their problems when they may not be able to do so themselves is what initially drew me to dispute resolution.

I believe that communication is essential and therefore I keep my clients informed, make sure their case progresses and, of course, aim to seek a successful resolution to their dispute. This involves bringing various parties together at conferences, facilitating mediations, giving advice and updates, and attending court hearings - all part and parcel of being a litigator.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking. I completed the National Three Peaks in 2021. Recently, I walked 32km of the Essex Way with a number of my Birkett Long colleagues raising money for a local charity.
