I enjoy being able to assist individuals in their time of need, being able to provide them with advice, guidance and solutions to their particular legal difficulties, and the satisfaction of achieving positive and definitive outcomes for clients.
I have worked in divorce and separation law for the past 15 years, specialising in the following areas: Divorce including contested proceedings; financial remedy including matters of high net worth, foreign assets and proceedings with multiple interveners; private law children proceedings including applications concerning residence, contact permanent removal from jurisdiction to Hague and Non-Hague Convention countries; Family Law Act proceedings representing both applicants and respondents in respect of applications for Non Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders; Trust of land proceedings for claimants and defendants, including for cohabiting couples; and Pre-nuptial and separation agreements.
Prior to joining Birkett Long, I was employed in a multi-office Legal 500 and Family Law award-winning firm as an Assistant Solicitor and Supervisor undertaking a varied workload, both private and publicly funded work, consisting of divorce, family remedy, private and public law children, child abduction, domestic violence and trust of land proceedings. My role also included being a Legal Aid Agency supervisor, training and supervision of qualified and non-qualified staff members and involvement in marketing and business development.
In 2010, I was acquired a family law specialist accreditation and became a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Scheme and am now a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Advanced Scheme.
I am also a member of Resolution, an organisation committed to dealing with family matters an amicable and non-confrontational manner and a member ofSociety for Asian Lawyers.
I am further a recommended Lawyer in Legal 500 in 2017.
During my career, I have undertaken pro-bono work for numerous organisations including Romford Independent Legal Advice Centre whilst studying at university and post qualification for Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Shepherds Bush Housing Association and Latin American Women’s Rights Service.
I continue to dedicate my time to the community by way of voluntary work, including Sikh Shaadi UK and raising money for charity, including for Race for Life and Harefield Hospital, as well as volunteering for Sikh Welfare and Awareness team (“SWAT”). In volunteering for Sikh Shaadi UK, we hold bi-monthly event in which my responsibilities vary from organisation and delivery of the event to marketing. In my time with SWAT, I assist with the London Outreach Homeless project, assisting in feeding the homeless in central London.
During 2017, I took part in the Law Society’s national advertising campaign – you can see some of the adverts here.
Outside of work, I like to keep fit and enjoy running.
