I provide clear and commercially relevant advice, focussing on the needs of my client. As Senior Associate, Patent Attorney at Birkett Long, I deal with mainly patent, but also trade mark and design, matters.

I have worked for every type of client, from sole inventors, through SMEs and to advising multinational corporations, both in the UK and abroad.

I have particular experience in prosecuting patents in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device sectors. I also have broad experience in protecting mechanical inventions, and registering trade marks and designs.

As a Patent Attorney, I get to use my technical background and apply it in a commercial setting. I love that every day is different, and has its challenges, due to the nature of dealing with inventions and other intellectual creations. It is very satisfying helping a client protect, and in some cases enforce, their creations.

Outside of work, I am involved with IP Inclusive, which is an initiative that seeks to improve diversity and inclusion within the Intellectual Property community. I am also particularly involved in a project called Careers In Ideas. This includes outreach to schools and universities to promote general understanding of IP and the many different careers available. I have, therefore, spoken at various schools in Essex.

In my spare time, I have two young children, who very much keep me on my toes. We enjoy everything from board games to bike rides together. I am also a keen (albeit slow) runner, and can often be seen at Chelmsford Parkrun on a Saturday morning.
