Carla Jones

Associate Solicitor

I aim to give my clients practical, succinct and clear advice and to provide them with a strategy from the outset.

I am an Associate Solicitor and lead the firm's North Essex Dispute Resolution team. In addition to my legal work, I lead and support the team at the firm’s Colchester office, where I am based.

I qualified as a solicitor in December 2013, since when I have gained a broad range of litigation experience encompassing debt recovery, contractual disputes (such as breach of confidence and restrictive covenants), property disputes, shareholder/director and partnership disputes, and defamation. I have particular expertise in breach of directors’ duties, civil fraud and professional negligence.

I studied History at King’s College London before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law (now known as the University of Law).

I trained at a Chelmsford based firm and initially qualified in the field of  employment law. However, within my first year as a solicitor I realised that I preferred the contentious side of the law and decided to make the jump to dispute resolution.

I took a role in a Basildon firm, working in their commercial litigation team and after three years I was promoted to Associate Solicitor. I'm a natural problem solver and enjoy helping businesses and individuals alike to navigate a dispute and identify the best outcome. My strengths lie in getting to the heart of the issue and I am no stranger to alternative dispute resolution, especially mediation.

Outside of work, I have two children who take up most of my time. However, I'm a big fan of a city break and love nothing more than immersing myself in a new destination, exploring everything it has to offer and in particular learning about its history.
