I was interested to read the recent case of IX v IY which considered the question...
In the Dispute Resolution team, I am a Paralegal working mostly with our personal injury and clinical negligence specialists.
I enjoy using the skills and legal knowledge I gained at university and putting them into practice. I have always had an interest in working within an area of the law that is centred around people and I find pleasure in knowing that my work contributes to helping others.
I wanted to join Birkett Long not only because of its impressive reputation, but because of its dedication to the community and desire to achieve the best result for each and every client.
I have had many volunteering roles which involved working within the community. For example, at university I volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau, where I was able to assist members of the public with a variety of money, legal and consumer problems. Whilst living in Canada, I visited a maximum-security prison and worked with prisoners on human rights issues. I have also raised money for various charities such as Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research and Hope for Children.
Prior to joining Birkett Long, I studied at the University of Nottingham and achieved a First Class award in my degree, Law with Canadian Law (LLB). During my third year of university I studied law at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I am currently studying part-time at the University of Law in London and I am due to complete the Legal Practice Course in 2020.
In my free time I love to travel, visit new places, and spend time with my family and friends. From a young age, a particular hobby of mine was dancing, for example I achieved Grade 8 in Ballet. I also like going to the West End and seeing theatre productions.
