Tony Frost

Tony Frost joined the Firm (then Smith Morton & Long) as an articled clerk in 1955, was admitted as a solicitor in 1961, and became a partner in 1963. He was Senior Partner between 1979 and 1989, and at Birkett Long in 1995-1999, retiring in 2005. His career ran parallel with that of David Colthorpe, and the two remain in regular contact.

Tony was a family solicitor who developed a specialism in agricultural law and had experience in dealing with a wide range of rural issues. He was a governor of Writtle College, a member of CLA committees, Chairman of Colchester Catalyst Charity, and a director of Colchester Building Society.

Since retirement, Tony has continued to support his Parish Church, was a trustee for ten years of the National Gardens Scheme, and a number of local charitable initiatives. He continues “to garden quite well, and play golf increasingly badly”. He and Sarah have three children and seven grandchildren.
