Partner, Head of Private Client Department, Head of Family Team
I studied law and politics at University College Cardiff and graduated in 1985. After completing the Legal Practice Course at Chester College of law I had a gap year, then joined SML as an articled clerk in 1987. I qualified in 1989 and have been with the firm in it's various guises ever since. I became a Partner in 1994. I am currently Head of the Private Client Department and of the Family team.
I started life as a general litigator and have covered most types of litigious law in my time. I used to be a member of the Law Society's specialist Personal Injury panel, and for the last 11 years have been a member of the Family Law panel. I am a member of The Court of the University of Essex.
Philip, first of all please accept my apologies for taking so long to acknowledge the excellent advice and support I have received from you and Birkett Long. After deciding to part company with [another local law firm] after what I still feel was inadequate advice and action, I was delighted at the service I received from you and your colleagues. I am sure that taking over a case that has been ongoing for a period of time is not easy but I very quickly felt reassured that I had made the right decision. The personal approach to dealing with my case made me confident that my needs were being met and I would happily recommend your services to others.
The [divorce] process has been greatly helped by your approach and your firm's approach. I would just like to say a very personal thank you for your guidance, assistance, helpful reassurance and general approach. I would happily recommend your services to others.
I am a former member and ex Chairman of Colchester Round Table. I am an RFU accredited coach, and have been coaching children's rugby for the last four years. I am interested in current affairs and hill walking, but most of all in spending what spare time I have with my young family.
