I studied Law LLB at Leicester University (1991-94). Prior to joining Birkett Long as an associate solicitor in August 2009 and becoming a Partner on 1 June 2011, I qualified as a solicitor at a commercial practice in Ipswich, where I gained considerable experience acting for assorted businesses and individuals involved in a broad range of commercial disputes before specialising in contentious insolvency.
Developing that specialism further at a commercial practice in Norwich, I principally advised office-holders in relation to contentious recovery actions - typically involving wrongful/fraudulent trading, transactions at an undervalue, preferences and misfeasance.
In addition to handling substantial contract and company disputes, I act for insolvency practitioners in the pursuit of contentious recovery actions and advises companies and directors as well as debtors and their spouses/partners in relation to a wide variety of corporate and personal insolvency-related issues. I have a particular interest in the defence of proceedings brought under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
I passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency examination in 2004 and I am a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3).
