Technical Support Assistant
THE ROLE
We have a vacancy for a Trainee Technical Support Assistant to join our busy and well respected Wills, Trust and Probate Team. The position will be based in our Colchester office but will be eligible for some home working, if required, in line with the Firm’s home working guidelines.
The role will include supporting the team with a varied caseload and bridging the gap between fee earning, secretarial and administration duties. Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The main duties will include:
- Carrying out legal research;
- To assist in taking calls;
- To assist in the production and sending out documents;
- Liaising with third parties e.g. probate registry, estate agents etc.
- Liaising with clients and arranging Wills signings and dealing with the execution of Wills.
- Assisting with the administrative tasks and drafting of documents in Probate, Office of Public Guardian and Trust matters
THE DEPARTMENT
You will join the specialised Wills, Trust and Probate team which provides a wide range of services to guide individuals to make decisions regarding their personal and financial affairs to enable them to plan ahead. The team also assists families following a bereavement.
Specialist advice includes:
- Wills – why you should make one;
- Trust – what a trust is and the suitability for you;
- Inheritance Tax planning;
- Probate;
- Planning future care – individual and family;
- Powers of Attorney
THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for an enthusiastic applicant to join our highly regarded team of specialist lawyers.
Some previous experience within a similar role would be advantageous but is not essential.
The ideal candidate will have:

- a positive, friendly and helpful approach to being a team player;
- excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet tight deadlines;
- strong attention to detail;
- the ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own;
- IT literacy skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
