I am a trainee solicitor in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team in Colchester. My first seat was in the Commercial Real Estate team and I will move to my final seat in the Agriculture and Estates team in March 2019.
I love working in a challenging, results-based practice. A positive result can be many things, such as drafting the desired will for a satisfied client or reviewing a client's finances to ensure suitable tax planning is put in place. I have a LLM in Professional Legal Practice and a MA in Continental Philosophy.
Whilst the key objective of a training contract is to learn about various practice areas, the main day-to-day responsibility is to assist team members in the progression of client matters, seeking out opportunities to do that and taking any task as far as I can before reverting to a supervising solicitor.
I have had my fill of football over the past twenty years and so have more recently started kung-fu. I have progressed to blue belt so far, which is just past the half-way mark towards black belt.
