I studied for the Legal Executive exams at Kingsway Princeton College London whilst working for Lawrence Graham Solicitors in Lincoln’s Inn Fields. I was formally admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1988.
I was initially employed as an outdoor clerk to physically exchange contracts and to deliver bank drafts and collect deeds! As my studies progressed I assumed my own caseload and during the sixteen years I was there gained experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing including; acting for private individuals, overseeing clients and offshore companies, developer clients and working as part of a team assisting a major financial institution. I was also part of the group which trialled the Law Society’s Transaction Scheme.
I joined Birkett Long LLP when they merged with Brian Ruff Angus & Jewers in June 2012. I work in the firm’s Basildon office within the Rural and Residential Conveyancing department. I specialise in residential conveyancing including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, mortgage work, probate sales and re-organisation of property following divorce.
