I was interested to read the recent case of IX v IY which considered the question...
I am friendly, and approachable. I try to make legal concepts as easily understood as possible and take time to ensure my clients have a good understanding before proceeding. I am based in our Basildon office, and am available for a free 15 minute chat over the phone on 01245 453825.
I work broadly across the areas of wills, trusts, probate and tax planning. I deal with both taxable and non-taxable estates. I have gained experience in the resealing of the foreign equivalent to grants of probate in the Courts of England and Wales so that assets here can be dealt with.
I run a busy and mixed caseload. I assist in the coordination of the charitable work my team undertakes, including dealing with the charity will schemes and attending events in support of local charities linked to our area of work.
In truth, I decided I wanted to be a solicitor as a teenager (probably because it sounded impressive) and through sheer stubbornness have made it! I'm glad that I did because I really enjoy the variety of work and intellectual challenge that my job provides. In particular, I enjoy dealing with clients on a personal level about future planning which is important to them and their families or by making a difficult time in their lives after a loved one has passed away that little bit more manageable. The law in this area, particularly taxation, is frequently evolving and I enjoy the learning and adaptation of our practice which that brings with it. I don't feel that I will ever get bored and I appreciate that!
I have recently become a Dementia Friend through the Alzheimer’s Society, which assists in my work. I am also on the Essex Ladies in Business Committee.
I enjoy music and the arts and so attend the theatre, galleries and music events as often as possible. In 2017 I attended the Glastonbury Festival.
