Legal 500 confirms Birkett Long is a regional heavyweight and Essex's leading law firm

For the first time Birkett Long has been ranked as a ‘Regional Heavyweight’ and has also been recognised as the law firm with the strongest profile in Essex.

Birkett Long, which has offices in Colchester and Chelmsford, has not only been ranked as a Regional Heavyweight for the first time but within Essex it has been listed as 'first tier' firm across six disciplines and is identified as the highest ranking Essex firm in 7 other areas - making it the firm with the strongest profile in the county.  This position will be further strengthened with the opening of a new south Essex office, near Basildon, in October.

In Essex, Birkett Long was placed as a first tier firm in Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Employment, Agriculture and Estates, Family, and Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate (PTTP).  Birkett Long also achieved a first tier ranking region-wide for Agriculture and Estates.

Adrian Livesley, Managing Partner at Birkett Long, said: “For several years our business aim has been to become the leading full service law firm in Essex. We are delighted these prestigious results reveal we have not only met this objective by being recognised as the highest profile law firm in the county but also that we have also been recognised as a key regional firm."

He added: “The fact that we have once again received recognition for both our private and commercial disciplines is excellent. Each year the Legal 500 results continue to prove we have strength in a diverse range of disciplines, something which sets us apart from our competitors. We have seen our rankings increase in three areas since 2010 which shows we remain on track in our mission to continue to grow and offer a first class, full legal service both in Essex and the wider region.”
