Breaking News - unemployment in UK falls to 1.75m

The Office for National Statistics has announced that unemployment in the UK fell to its lowest in seven years. The figure of 5.3% from July-September 2015 is the lowest unemployment rate since April-June 2008.

The number of people out of work fell by 103,000 between July and September 2015 to 1.75 million. There were 31.21 million people in work, 177,000 more than for the 2015 April - June quarter and 419,000 more than April-June 2014.

The Office for National Statistics claim that the total earnings of workers, including bonuses, for July-September 2015 was up 3% from the same period in 2014.
