Employment law and HR expert Julie Temple has returned to her roots after 15 years – re-joining leading Essex law firm, Birkett Long, as Partner and Head of Employment and BLHR. She previously trained and qualified as a solicitor with the firm.

After qualifying in September 2002, Julie specialised in employment law advising both employee and employer clients.  Julie’s work has ranged from advising on contracts and handbooks to disciplinary matters, grievances, discrimination and acting on behalf of clients on Employment Tribunal claims of any kind. She helps clients stay up to date with the fast-moving world of employment law, and has led on advising on holiday pay and GDPR, as well as enforcing and defending actions to enforce restrictive covenants.

Julie has been successful on a number of multi-day cases, either by way of judgment or settlement, including advising on a case resulting in a £25k cost award against a claimant acting in person.

As co-chair of the Essex and Ipswich Branch of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development, Julie is in demand as a speaker on employment law matters.
