Essex Law firm Partner reaches Dementia Friends target

Liz Jones, a Partner at Birkett Long and Solicitor in the wills, trust and probate team, has created 113 Dementia Friends, exceeding her target of 100. Liz has achieved this as the Alzheimer’s Society announces that they have now reached 3 million Dementia Friends.

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

Liz has been a Dementia Friends Champion since early 2018. Dementia Friends Champions are trained volunteers who encourage others to learn a little bit about dementia. Champions run information sessions in their community and inspire others to help those living with dementia to live well.

Liz said: “ I love being a Dementia Champion, creating Dementia Friends and helping to promote all the invaluable work being done by the Alzheimer’s Society.”

Camilla Alfred, Dementia Friends Officer said: “We are very grateful for the time and effort Liz puts in as a Champion. Every Friend she makes is another step towards breaking down the stigma surrounding dementia – so thank you to Liz for all the Friends she has made so far. Keep up the great work!”
