Essex law firm Paralegal has exam success

Emma Rayner, a Paralegal at Birkett Long, has passed the last of her Level 3 Diploma in Law & Practice exams with the Cilex Law School. Emma is now an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and will continue to work in the firm’s commercial real estate team. Her achievement is particularly impressive given she only took the first of the ten assessments in June last year.

Emma started her career at Birkett Long as an admin apprentice, progressed to a trainee legal secretary, then a team assistant, and now is a Paralegal.

Emma now has her own files and her own clients and this qualification will back up her experience as a Paralegal. The main purpose of the qualification is that it allows her to enrol with the Law School for the Level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice. This consists of four exams and two coursework units. Once completed, she will put together a portfolio and will then be a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer.

Emma says: “Birkett Long has supported me by allowing me to progress to paralegal level, which gave me invaluable experience and made studying easier for me. I have also been allowed to take study leave, which enabled me to take four exams at a time (instead of the recommended two).”

As part of the commercial real estate team and the small developers team, Emma likes that this area is non-contentious and everyone is working towards the same end goal.

Emma says: “I really enjoy working with my team, my team members are so supportive and kind. My first ever job was at Birkett Long and after returning, I qualified at the firm. I am so pleased that they see potential in me by supporting me with my exams and helping me progress my career.”
