Business expert boosts Birkett Long team

Corporate, commercial and employment law expert Alan Massenhove has joined leading Essex law firm Birkett Long, adding his experience to its renowned Business Team.

Alan, who has worked in the legal profession for 23 years, is based at Birkett Long’s Chelmsford office. He said: “What appealed to me about Birkett Long was the size and quality of its Business Team and the calibre of the solicitors working there. It is an absolute pleasure working as part of a team alongside likeminded and highly capable colleagues.

“I am by nature a perfectionist, and I pride myself on high quality legal work, combined with developing and maintaining long term working relationships with clients. I aim to help the Business Team to attract London-based clients and work.”

Born in London and raised in Essex, Alan decided to pursue his legal career in 1988 after working as an Essex Police Constable for seven years. He studied law at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.

After carrying out his articles clerkship (now known as a solicitor’s training contract) at a Southend- based legal practice, Alan qualified as a solicitor in 1994.

During his early career, he worked for several Essex law firms before moving to a highly regarded legal practice in the City of London, where he worked as a Senior Solicitor and Director and headed up both the Corporate and Commercial Department and the Employment Team for nearly ten years.

Alan has experience in criminal law, family law and litigation but has almost exclusively specialised in corporate, commercial and employment law for the last 17 years.

Outside work, father-of-two Alan seeks to be an active member of the local community and served for many years as a parish councillor. He is particularly interested in World War II aircraft and is a classic car enthusiast, having restored a Triumph Spitfire Mk II to Concours condition.
