Reviewing your will: time for a Spring clean?
- AuthorJess Birch
After what feels like a very long winter, especially this year due to the pandemic, it is great to see that Spring is finally here! Longer days, brighter colours and new flowers.
For many, this also means that it is time to have a Spring clean. If you are like me, you might have written a list of jobs to do. Is making or reviewing your will on your list? Now might be the perfect time to double-check all of your affairs are in order.
Most people find comfort in knowing that everything is in place to ensure their loved ones are looked after when they are no longer around. This will involve thinking about what you want to happen to your property and assets that you will leave behind when you die.
It is often a topic that people don’t want to think about but my clients all say that they feel far better once their will is in place. Having a will gives them peace of mind that if the worst were to happen, everything will be in order.
A few things to think about are:
- Have you made a will to confirm who you would like to pass your assets on to in the event of your death?
- If you have, it would be a good idea to get out a copy of your will and review it. Does it still reflect your wishes?
- Have you set up a power of attorney? This is a separate document to your will but equally as important.
