Remember a Charity in Your Will Week
- AuthorEmma Clarke
As Campaign Supporters of “Remember a Charity in Your Will”, the team here at Birkett Long was pleased to find out that charity giving within wills was at an all-time high. The figures released to coincide with Remember a Charity in Your Will Week show that £2.85 billion was left to charity through gifts in wills last year.
We work closely with some of our local charities and in particular local hospices. We are aware of the vast sums of money required to keep the facilities and services available to the public in Essex and the real difference that gifts in wills, whether large or small, can make to these charities.
In England we have testamentary freedom, which means that someone can leave assets or money to any charity or charities, alongside any other beneficiaries of their choice. If you are thinking about making a gift to charity in your will and would like further advice, please contact a member of the team.
