Busting business trip boredom

  • Posted

We’ve all been there. You’re on holiday or on a business trip in an EU country and you’ve got some time to kill, so you reach for your tablet to keep up with your favourite show and… “Sorry, this service is not available to you in this country”!

Luckily, the increasing popularity of online film subscription services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix coupled with this irritating problem has led to the legal affairs committee voting for draft regulations which will resolve this.

The proposals are that so long as you are able to prove that you pay for the service in question in your resident country and that your stay in the EU country is only temporary, travellers will be able to continue to stream content just like they do at home.

Members of the European Parliament are now negotiating with national governments to collaborate on the wording of the regulations.  Hopefully it will not be too long before we can while away the time watching films on our EU travels and sneakily catch just one more episode- assuming we are party to the discussions and can agree the UK’s inclusion following Brexit.
