Lockdown 3 - Employment workplace update
- AuthorJulie Temple
What you need to know regarding lockdown 3.0 and the workplace:
The guidance says employees 'can only leave home for work purposes where it is unreasonable … to do your job from home’. The legislation is more restrictive and says ‘no person may without reasonable excuse enter or remain in a public outdoor place’ … unless ‘it is reasonably necessary … for work purposes’.
- Clinically extremely vulnerable should not attend the workplace but can work from home where this is possible.
- Furlough can be used for employees who are unable to work due to childcare issues or are clinically extremely vulnerable, or at the highest risk of severe illness from coronavirus and following public health guidance (which we expect will be updated imminently).
- Furlough can, however, only be claimed for employees employed on 30 October 2020 and a PAYE Real Time Information (RTI) submission to HMRC has been made for them between 20 March 2020 and 30 October 2020. We are hoping this will change as it did for lockdown 2.0.
