Power of attorney refunds

Are you a donor or attorney for any lasting powers of attorney made between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017?

If so, the donor could be entitled to a partial refund from the Office of the Public Guardian. The Government has recently launched a scheme that will allow donors or their attorneys to claim back excessive registration fees including any repeat application or remission fees. Refunds are determined by the date the fee was paid, and the amount donors can expect to receive is set out below:

  • April to September 2013 - £54
  • October 2013 to March 2014 - £34
  • April 2014 to March 2015 - £37
  • April 2015 to March 2016 - £38
  • April 2016 to March 2017 - £45
