How divorce can impact mental health
- AuthorLisa Collins
As a family lawyer, I deal with clients who are often experiencing significant amounts of stress. They may be going through a divorce or separation, struggling to resolve a financial dispute and/or worrying about what may happen to their children.
Divorce is said to be one of the most stressful events a person can experience. Should more be done to safeguard the mental health of those going through it?
At Birkett Long, we offer advice and guidance on the legal processes involved in a divorce case. We also have regard for the emotional impact the experience is having on the individual getting divorced.
This week is Mental Health Awareness week and I have written this blog to do just that, raise awareness. I would also like to reassure anyone who is thinking of divorcing or encountering relationship difficulties that we recognise and empathise with the impact this situation can have on mental health.
