Recommendation to work from home comes in today

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 8 December 2021, the recommendation to work from home ‘if you can’ starts today (13 December 2021).

This time round, working ‘from home if you can’ feels a little different. Further government guidance (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do) says, from 13 December 2021, office workers who can work from home should. It recognises this won’t be possible for all, with some needing access to equipment as well as it potentially being inappropriate for individuals with mental or physical health difficulties or challenging home working environments.

The guidance encourages individuals who have to attend their workplace to take lateral flow tests.

We recommend you continue to keep under review all guidance including:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-covid-19
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do#get-tested-and-self-isolate-if-required
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do#wear-a-face-covering-

As and when guidance is updated also consider your own risk assessments.

Don’t forget different guidance applies in England, Wales (https://gov.wales/coronavirus) and Scotland(https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/).
