200 years celebrations - October

We are continuing our 200-year anniversary celebrations with random acts of kindness in the local community and a look back at our history.

Random acts of kindness

Sarah Humphryes, from the Marketing team, took some doughnuts supplied by Chelmsford based small business XO Dough to The OutHouse charity, which offers support and information to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people of Essex.

Birkett Long has supported the charity for many years. In addition, all of our staff had the opportunity to receive some LGBTQ+ awareness training provided by the service.

Lisa Cox, from the Court of Protection and Inheritance Disputes team, gave Matthew Mills from Radcliffe Chambers some wine to thank him for going the extra mile for her team and their clients.

Craig Bloomfield, from the Operations team, surprised the Colchester office window cleaners with Amazon vouchers.

Tracie, part of the Phoenix House reception team at our Basildon office received a bottle of prosecco from our Basildon based staff. Frances Lavender in the Wills Trusts and Probate team was particularly grateful to Tracie for giving her peace of mind and making her feel safe whilst working during the lockdown.

Our Marketing team sent 200 years cupcakes to their printing supplier, Smith and Watts, as a thank you for all that they do.

Melanie Bache, from our Commercial Real Estate team, sent MS-UK Colchester some brownies from local business Essex Bakery. MS-UK is a charity that is there for people affected by multiple sclerosis. Melanie assisted them with their move to new premises and sent them the random act of kindness as a housewarming gift.

Tim Field, from our Corporate and Commercial Finance Team, and Ben Parmenter, from our Wills, Trusts and Probate team, also sent brownies from Essex Bakery to 17 of their different charity clients as a surprise.

From our history

Did you know that in 1987 Sir Ronald Long passed away and, up until his passing, he was still a practising solicitor?

Did you know that our Basildon office is 10 years old this year after its opening on 3 October 2011?

Kind messages of congratulations

We have had many kind messages of congratulations, but this month would like to share one from MS-UK Colchester and one from The OutHouse:

MS-UK Colchester said: “Thank you @BirkettLong for the lovely card and brownies. A big congratulations to you on celebrating your 200 year anniversary #bltwohundred”

The OutHouse said: “Take A Goosey Gander At These Beauties! 🍩😍 In celebration of their 200th Anniversary, @birkett_long have been making random acts of kindness left, right and centre!
Last week, we were lucky enough to receive a visit...and our counsellors were delighted by this deliciously delectable delivery! 🙌Thank You Birkett Long and Happy Anniversary 🎉😊.”
