Trainee qualifies into Dispute Resolution team

A trainee solicitor at leading Essex law firm, Birkett Long, has seen his hard work and commitment recognised as he moves up the ranks to become a fully qualified solicitor.

David Feakins has completed over nine years of learning and training to become a solicitor and is now looking forward to working within the Dispute Resolution team at Birkett Long’s Colchester office.

David joined Birkett Long in January 2015 as a paralegal in the Wills, Trust and Probate team. He then commenced his training contract in September 2017, with time spent in the Family and Divorce, Dispute Resolution and Business teams.

Upon qualification, David said: “Birkett Long offered me a fantastic opportunity to undertake my training contract. Every step of the way, I have been able to work with some fantastic lawyers who are not only approachable, but also very knowledgeable about the law.”

As well as working within the Dispute Resolution team, David will be specialising in Sports Law and working closely with the specialist Insolvency and Education teams.

David concluded: “It means so much to know that the hard work I have put in over the years has finally come to fruition. I look forward to seeing what the future holds at Birkett Long.”

In addition to his role, David is a Local Academy Committee member at Kingswode Hoe School in Colchester. He is an avid football fan, supporting Southend United, and also manages his local football team, Latchingdon FC, in his spare time.
