I joined the firm in 1997, became a Partner in 2000 and am now Head of the Commercial Department and Team Leader of the Construction Team.
I am experienced in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters and commercial litigation. I advise a wide variety of clients, including businesses, manufacturers, contractors, developers, sub-contractors, local authorities, health authorities, educational establishments, construction professionals and consultants.
On the contentious side I am experienced in various business disputes, particularly relating to commercial contracts. In construction I deal with adjudications, having completed over 20. I am also widely experienced in dealing with mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings. This work includes advising clients on breaches of contract, non payment, extensions of time, loss and expense and valuation claims. I also advise clients on claims involving allegations of professional negligence, both taking actions against professionals and defending proceedings for professionals.
I have particular experience in providing advice on construction contracts and sub-contracts and in January 2012 I was made a member of the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association (TeCSA). In addition, I work with a number of different professionals, including architects and surveyors on their contractual terms and collateral warranties. I also advise on other associated documents required in the building industry such as guarantees and bonds. I have experience in all the major standard forms including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and ICE.
