I am a member of the Financial Services team, which is able to give independent financial advice on all aspects of investment, pensions, insurance and mortgages.  I specialise in investments and pensions, such as ISAs, Unit Trusts, Investment Trusts, Investment Bonds, etc. I have worked in Financial Services for over 39 years – 18 years in the Building Society industry, principally the Colchester Building Society, and the remainder with Birkett Long as a Financial Planning Manager.

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a member of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Personal Insurance Society.

It is very unusual for a firm of solicitors to have an ‘in house’ financial services team, and therefore provides Birkett Long's clients with the advantage of obtaining legal advice and independent financial advice “under one roof”.

The financial services team works closely with other teams within the firm, for example the Personal Tax and Probate team providing clients with inheritance tax planning, and the Family team providing advice to clients during a divorce on pension sharing orders and maintenance payments protection.
