I read law at Pembroke College, Cambridge before working in the City as a lawyer specialising in derivatives and, later, in Private Banking and Wealth Management. After 6 years as the regional general counsel for Citigroup Private Bank and a stint as global compliance head for Barclays Private Banking, I joined Birkett Long in 2004.
A specialist in advising individuals and families on inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, I also handle a wide range of wills, probate, trusts and Court of Protection work. I am experienced in dealing with estates involving foreign assets, businesses and farms. I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) having been awarded a diploma in 2007.
I speak French and have experience dealing with cross-border estates. I have also dealt with business succession issues and estate planning involving wills and trusts. I have significant experience in dealing with jointly-owned property and capital gains tax issues on the sale of second homes and let property.
