New Basildon office strengthens Birkett Long's position as Essex's leading law firm

Birkett Long has officially celebrated the opening of its new office in Phoenix House, on the outskirts of Basildon, which will provide the leading Essex law firm with a stronger presence in the south of the county.

With already established offices in Colchester and Chelmsford, Birkett Long has developed a strong presence in the north of the county, providing a full range of legal services to businesses and individuals.  Even prior to the new south Essex office opening, the firm was ranked by industry guide Legal 500 earlier this year as a ‘regional heavyweight’ with the strongest overall profile of all the law firms in Essex.

Although the firm had not previously had a physical presence in the south of the county it already represented a number of commercial and private clients in the area, making it a natural expansion plan to open a third office in an ideal location for clients and business partners in Basildon, Southend and the A127/A13/M25 corridors.

The new office, overlooking the A127, is headed up by experienced employment lawyer Martin Hopkins.

“This is an exciting time for us as we expand into new territories,” said Martin. “We look forward to continuing to welcome existing clients to our new office and to meeting new contacts and clients. We also look forward to playing a more active role in a part of the county which has one of the fastest growing economies in the UK and is set to experience massive change through developments including London Gateway Port, Thames Gateway, Southend airport and Basildon regeneration.”

Martin will be working with Tracey Dickens who heads up the commercial and corporate finance team, and Emma Wraight, a property solicitor. Office administrator Cheryl Burness will ensure smooth running of the office.

Denise Rossiter, Chief Executive at Essex Chambers of Commerce, said: “We were delighted that Essex Chambers of Commerce’s Patron, Birkett Long LLP, is opening a new office in Basildon.  With existing offices in Chelmsford and Colchester, the addition of a South Essex branch will ensure that the firm has established links throughout Essex. With their great reputation for legal services, we wish them every success and we hope that this will mark the start of growth and contacts with South Essex businesses.”
