The firm took over this case from a local specialist firm of personal injury solicitors after proceedings had been issued. The client had had an accident in her local supermarket when she had slipped on liquid on the floor that had not been cleared up. Janice badly damaged her knee and the claim was complicated by the fact that she had pre-existing arthritis, and had an accident very shortly before the accident in the supermarket. Janice changed solicitors because she was unhappy with the orthopaedic report obtained by her previous solicitors. We had to get the leave of Court to obtain further orthopaedic evidence which was obtained together with other medical evidence. Due to our involvement, the claim increased from about £25,000 on the basis of the original evidence and was eventually settled at just under £76,000 one week before the trial.
