Essex Ltd is the first ever indepth survey into the performance of the county’s top 100 companies and their industry sectors, carried out by accountants and business advisers Grant Thornton in partnership with Essex law firm Birkett Long.

The results will provide an important barometer of the county’s overall business performance and will be announced at two dedicated events held in December 2011. For further information see the events section of this website.

Using the latest company accounts available, the information compiled will look at details such as company turnover, operating profit and employment figures, and also include a breakdown of the financial data by sector.

The top 100 companies in Essex will be selected based on the postcode of their trading address and turnover levels.

The Essex Ltd survey will be carried out annually and follows the success of a similar study in Suffolk, hosted by Grant Thornton, which over the past 10 years has become a recognised feature of the county’s business calendar.
