Will Disputes

The death of a partner, parent or other loved one is always distressing. It can be stressful when the Will is challenged and claims are made by others to share the estate. On the other hand, sometimes the Will or the operation of the law makes inadequate provision for those who are left behind. On occasion, there are disputes about tax issues. Prompt action is often necessary because time limits exist within which these types of claims must be brought.

Our clients benefit from the team's timely and sympathetic advice on the wide ranging legal implications of making or defending such a claim. We have the necessary expertise to fight your case in the courts where appropriate but we are also committed to the constructive resolution of disputes by mediation or negotiation wherever possible.

We regularly act in bringing and defending claims in estates from the very small to the very large. For example, we were recently successful in the Court of Appeal in a dispute about Inheritance Tax against the Inland Revenue in the High Court in a £6 million Inheritance Act claim.

At what can be a difficult time for clients, we provide practical and cost effective solutions to often very complex problems.
