Construction

Advice on the terms of a construction contract and the professional contracts for the redevelopment of an educational establishment worth in excess of £50 million, the purchase of potential development land, advice on the subcontract for the fitting of cladding to a landmark building in London worth in excess of £7 million are just a few examples of the non-contentious matters dealt with successfully by the Construction Law Team.  Our non-contentious team deals with all the steps needed to construct a building.

Recent examples of non-contentious work include advising a client on the terms of a FIDIC contract for a project in Turkey.  We have also advised a client on the renovation of a tunnel in England, where the value of the contract is in excess of £6 million.  We are advising a client on the construction of treatment suites at a number of private hospitals throughout England, including the construction contract and collateral warranties.  These are just a few examples of the non-contentious matters that we have dealt with successfully, recently.

Thanks for all your help. We thank you for your efforts, as you know we had tried for a long time to get this money, and your intervention worked wonders. We will bear you in mind for any other legal & debt issues we may have in the future, but we obviously hope that none occur.

We also have considerable experience in contentious matters through adjudications, arbitrations or litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC), and also the local County Courts.  For example, we recently successfully defended an adjudication claim brought against a client by its subcontractors where the claim was in excess of £200,000.  We also advised a client on disputes arising from an NEC-based contract.  The advice was sufficient to enable the client to negotiate a very favourable settlement.  We have also recently issued Court proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court for monies owed to our client's subcontractor on a number of projects by the same main contractor.

Clients benefit from the specialist knowledge of the Construction Law Team, which also draws on the skills of legal professionals in commercial property, planning, environmental and company commercial disciplines.

Peter gives straight, no-nonsense advice...clients appreciate his supportive manner in discussing and guiding them through the options available to them.

Our construction team is recommended by the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
